This week Adam Walton meets a leading Welsh neuroscientist, Professor John Aggleton, who has recently been awarded a prestigious fellowship of the Royal Society.

Professor Aggleton's research work in cognitive neuroscience tries to unravel the huge complexity of the human brain, and how and where different types of memory are stored within it.

During the programme we hear how John's early interest in animals and psychology led him to into his area of research, which partly relates animal and human brain functions. He explains to Adam that, even after many decades of research, and the introduction of "brain imaging" techniques, our understanding of how the brain works is still at a very basic level.

John's work includes studying the effects of damge in different parts and how it can be related to selective memory loss.
