He talks to Professor Tim Jacob, who runs the Smell Research Lab, about the way our brain responds to different smells and how they affect our mood and evoke powerful memories. And what happens when our sense of smell suddenly vanishes? That's exactly what happened to journalist and editor at New Scientist magazine, Mick O'Hare, who speaks movingly about his experience of anosmia.
Adam also discusses with Tim the role smell plays in the partners we choose. There's good evidence that our sense of smell acts as a very effective mate-detector. So listen in, inhale and enjoy!
