This week - the subject of sports psychology comes under the spotlight. We also hear how scientists have managed to "tie light into knots". Plus there's news of a team of students from Swansea who have made it to the UK final of a major technology competition.
Sport and psychology
Adam Walton discusses the subject of sports psychology with Tim Woodman of Bangor University's Department of Sport Health and Exercise Science, who has recently been leading a study into emotions and how they affect performance. We also hear from Phil Johnson, a sport and exercise psychologist currently working at Glyndwr University.
Tying light in knots
Work recently published in the journal Nature Physics shows how scientists from Bristol, Glasgow and Southampton managed to "tie light into knots". Dr Mark Dennis explains the science behind this feat, and how it was achieved.
Keeping tabs on your energy use
An idea dreamt up by students in Swansea to combine the power of social networking with the desire to monitor and improve energy use, has won them a place in the UK finals of a competition run by Microsoft. The Imagine Cup attracts many thousands of entries around the world, and looks for innovative use of software and technology. The Swansea team have called their idea "Frenigy", combining "friends" and energy"
