This week - the new web portal that will open up the geology of the UK. We meet someone who is on a mission to increase our understanding of microbiology. We join in a very frosty experiment. Also there are a few tips to save you cash over Christmas using your home PC.

New website rocks...

Adam Walton chats to Keith Westhead of the British Geological Survey about their new OpenGeoscience web portal which puts online a huge geological resource for both amateur and professional geologists.

Microbiology champion

Professor Hilary Lappin-Scott the recently elected president of the Society for General Microbiology explains how she hopes to spread the word about the importance of micro-organisms.

Frosty science

Adam pays a visit to the Techniquest Science Discovery Centre at Glyndwr University in Wrexham where they are currently running a series of "frosty science" expermients, to match the cold Winter weather. Mike Corcoran demonstrates what happens to Blu-Tack when it is dipped in liquid nitrogen.

Cashing in on the web

Technology in the home has made buying and selling much easier. With a PC and broadband connection there are many ways to save and even make money. Jaclin Clarabut from Which Computing joins us with a few pre-Christmas tips.
