Mark Brake, Professor of Science communication at Glamorgan University discusses our enduring fascination with the Moon, and how Wales can stake a claim to starting the race to the Moon. Also, how Galileo, observing the Moon through a telescope for the first time 400 years ago, re-invented our impression of our natural satellite.

Astronomy Festival

Teresa Cooper from the Cardiff Astronomical Society previews the Cardiff Astronomy festival on Saturday 25th July at the National Museum of Wales in Cardiff, admission is free. Teresa also explains how the Moon can inspire an interest in astronomy.

Apollo Manual

Dr Christopher Riley has co-written a new book, which gives an insight into the technology that went into the Moon landings. The Apollo 11 Haynes Manual is written in the style of their car maintenance manuals.
