Adam takes the Science Cafe on the road this week as he visits the School of Ocean Sciences at Bangor University. The School, one of the largest marine sciences departments in Europe, conducts research and teaching on every aspect of the physics, chemistry, geography and biology of our oceans.

While he's there Adam meets Ming the 400 year old clam and talks to two of its discoverers about what this ancient mollusc is telling us about climate change; he finds out from a fisheries scientist Mike Kaiser whether the days of cod on chip shop menus are numbered; he gets an overview of the School of Ocean Sciences' work from its Head, Dr. Colin Jago; and Prof. David Thomas discusses the link between Antarctic sea ice and extraterrestrial life.

Even though the programme's out on the road there's still time for a shot of Espresso Science. This week Dr. Tom Rippeth of the School of Ocean Sciences recreates the North Atlantic and the Gulf Stream in a bath of water.
