Programme 1: Sunday 21 October

Adam Walton examines the science behind the headlines and reveals the latest scientific research in Wales

Sunday 21st October at 5.03pm
(repeated Wednesday 24th October at 9.30pm)

Adam Walton opens the Science Cafe for business. This week he visits Techniquest @ NEWI in Wrexham and, appropriately enough, spends most of the programme in the Centre's cafe where he discusses the secret of making science interesting and accessible with the Centre's manager, Rachel Mason.

Adam also talks to engineer Dr. Hastings Mckenzie and his students about their project to create a 'greener' racing car and meets 'squidgy scientist' Dr. Rob English. Rob's area of expertise is rheology, the study of fluid flow and, since they're in a cafe, he gives Adam a demonstration of the science of blueberry muffins!

Also joining Adam on the programme is Professor Sir Martin Evans of Cardiff University, one of the founders of stem-cell research and joint-winner of the 2007 Nobel Prize for Medicine.
