It's all change to Saturday and Sunday nights for BBC Radio Wales from January 7 2012. Station Editor Steve Austins describes the thinking behind the new schedule.
Changing a radio schedule is a delicate art: you mess with people's routines at your peril. However, I truly believe the new line ups for Saturday and Sunday evenings have a better blend to them, which will hopefully encourage people to listen to BBC Radio Wales for longer.
The new schedule
We've been passionate about championing new Welsh music on the station in the last few years and now Saturday nights will become its home with a new extended Bethan Elfyn Show at 7 PM. The first programme in the new slot on Saturday 7 January features live music from Kutosis and Zervas and Pepper.
Bethan's new show leads neatly into Adam Walton. Adam's unique mix of new Welsh music moves from Sunday nights to Saturday nights at 10pm.

Sunday nights start at 6 PM with the award winning Frank Hennessy and the excellent Celtic Heartbeat.
Dewi Griffiths' extended version of String of Pearls stays at 8 PM, then at 9 we're proud to announce a brand new show for Beverley Humphreys. Beverley's World of Music will be celebrating the many different kinds of music that can be heard in Wales every day - choirs, brass bands, orchestras, music theatre, opera, jazz and more. Sunday nights finish with the one and only Chris Needs and his selection of Best Bits from the week.
I really think the new shows will add something unique to BBC Radio Wales and I think there will be a more consistent flow of programmes for those of us who listen over longer periods. I hope you agree.
