On this page we're giving you a chance to read a selection of comments left by Dame Shirley fans about the Welsh singing diva.
I was one of 10,000 voices in The Arms Park who sang with Shirley Bassey and from that day to this I have been a fan of hers !!

I knew Shirley well when she was working at Curran's, Cardiff, where I was an apprentice.
She used to follow the soccer team when I was playing and used to cheer with a satirical 'Come on' .
One evening we had been training at the work's sports ground when building alterations meant that the only access was through the men's changing room. I was last coming out of the shower-room when Shirley knocked and asked if it were O.K. for her to come through. Of course, the others shouted 'Yes' and I was in full frontal view when she came in.
When I returned from 'defending the country' after 2 years National Service, she was gone on her stage career.

I remember Shirley coming for afternoon tea at The Palm Court Ritz Hotel, London. I was playing the grand piano in the hotel that day and played some of her musical hits - she smiled in my direction.

My Gran went to School with her and grew up just next door which is sooo mad. I am an entertainer myself and peform a few Shirley numbers in my show.

I have been a fan of Shirley since I was a child, I have seen her about 35 times in Concert. I have met her several times, she is a delight...and very funny! I have quite bit of Shirley Bassey memorabilia, I have one of her outfits and some items from the sale of her London home. She even spoke to me whilst recording her "Live" Birthday album..."You have a very infectious laugh" she told me.
I love the effect she has on people.

I have been a Bassey fan since the early days (1959 onwards!). I have seen her in concert, cabaret and TV recordings over the years and will be going to the Electric Proms. I collect her CDs from all over the world and stopped counting when I reached 350!
