The world's first National Coastal Path will officially be opened next Saturday May 5th .... a continuous stretch of 870 miles right round the shores of Wales. Events will be held in Flintshire, Aberystwyth and Cardiff on Saturday 5th - go along and see what the coast path has to offer you.
But first listen in to the final programme in our special series of a Coastal Country Focus in which Jane Davidson explores different sections of the coastal path and how it's been achieved. This week we begin on Bangor Pier, travel along the North Wales Coast and down the Dee Estuary to the Border and the beginning (or end) of the Path in Flintshire. On the way Jane discovers a hidden gem under her feet - the Bronze Age copper mines of the Great Orme. It's on to the Little Orme and Angel Bay to hear how the path is offering opportunities for all. At the seaside town of Prestatyn the coastal path meets Offa's Dyke and other trails in the area. Then it's down the Dee Estuary to ask is the Duke of Lancaster - a blot on the landscape or an icon? Before heading to Flint Castle and then on to the border.
This concludes the series around the coast with Jane Davidson and Country Focus would like to thank her for her journey and hope that you all enjoy discovering the shape of a nation.
