Skokholm's Island Life

Exploring island life for the warden, the volunteers and, of course, the wildlife

Last updated: 10 July 2011

Country Focus - Sunday 10th July at 0700; presented by Rachael Garside and repeated Monday 11th July at 0530

Where in Wales can you go to see more than 4,000 puffin, 2,000 guillimots and razorbills, not to mention harbour porpoise, bottle nose dolphins and grey seals? All this on an island only 1 mile long off the Pembrokeshire coast - it's Skokholm. The island is owned and managed by the Wildlife Trust of South and West Wales (WTSWW) and Rachael Garside takes a rollercoaster boat ride out to meet the warden Jerry Gillam and the volunteers who guide us round the wealth of wildlife on the island, that at this time of year, they call home.
