Out of Africa

Degmo - a nomadic settlement - and a haven for Somalis in Mid Wales?

Last updated: 02 January 2011

Country Focus - Sunday 2nd January 2011 at 07.00am presented by Rachael James

Another chance to hear a programme that was originally broadcast earlier in the year....

The mountains and plains of the horn of Africa may seem a long way from the rolling hills of mid-Wales but members of the UK Somali community are coming here, to learn about their traditions and cultural heritage reconnecting with their African routes on a remote hill farm in New Radnor. Rachael James visits Degmo - a settlement run by Hamish and Nell Wilson which combines rural traditions in Wales and Somalia.
