Live at the Royal Welsh Show

Final preparations are being made for this year's agricultural highlight - join us LIVE at the Royal Welsh showground in Llanelwedd, Builth Wells.

Last updated: 18 July 2010

Country Focus - Sunday 18th July at 0730 ; repeated 19th July at 0530 presented by Rachael James.

This president of the Royal Welsh Show this year is probably one of the most recognisable figures and contributors in rural Wales. Rachael James meets Dai Llanilar in his caravan on the showground with a look ahead at the week to come.

As the showground wakes up our rural affairs correspondent, Iolo ap Dafydd takes stock in the cattle sheds and ask where next now the badger cull has been deemed unlawful?

Two hot competitions are on offer at this year's show - the first is the UK logging Championships and Rachael James is in the woods as they carve out the preparations. And the second is the International Sheep Shearing and Woolhandling championships. Next week Country Focus looks at the wool industry in Wales.

And finally a little food to sample - visitors are in for a treat as the new £1.6m Food Hall is opened - what will it mean for exhibitors and the food industry? We sample some blueberry sauces and discover perhaps Wales' only blueberry farmer.
