Woodland owners, walkers and even mountain bikers are being asked to do thier bit to prevent the spread of Phytophthora ramorum. The fungus-like pathogen kills many of the trees and plants that it infects. An outbreak has been found in Japanese larch trees in the Forestry Commission Wales' Afan Forest Park near Port Talbot.

With more and more people looking for green spaces to grow their own food, and waiting lists for allotments in Wales around four years, a team of Welsh students have come up with a zero-carbon and affordable mobile growing space - Nomadic Allotments.

As we all become more aware of our environment and perhaps harck after the self sufficient, "good life" one idea might be to make your own. In an idyllic setting in the Teifi Valley at Penallt Farm near Cilgerran, Martin and Nina Weatherhead offer a restidential course in the arts of dyeing , spinning and weaving.

We meet the volunteer with a passiofor the environment. Jack Grasse is often found up Cadiar idris, works wonders with flintstones and has novel wasyt o help doormice.

And fish in distress - the Environment Agency has been rescuing fish in several of Wales' rivers as they struggle to survive due to exceptionally low river levels.
