Country Focus - Monday 3rd May @ 0530 presented by Mel Doel

There's another chance to hear a programme broadcast earlier in the year on Ancient Welsh Yews. The Yew, Taxus baccata, is an ancient tree species that has survived since before the Ice Age. Melanie Doel explores the historical, cultural and spiritual significance of the ancient Welsh Yew - from its connections to pre-history to its role in providing wood for the English Longbow for nearly three centuries. With music specially composed and performed by ethnobotanist Fred Hageneder.
