Update for Country Focus 21st June 2009
How to save the environment and other stories

A host of celebrities recently joined Sir Paul McCartney's call for us to have a "meat-free Monday" because, he says , it would be good for the planet. Following the collapse of the milk cooperative Dairy Farmers of Britain the farming industry has been left counting the cost. Help is out there with charities who are prepared to lend an understanding ear. The helpline is 0845 3679990 and there's the farming crisis network and farming help.
Plastic bags can be a real blot on the landscape, a danger to wildlife and can take many years to degrade. Supermarkets are encouraging us to use fewer and the Snowdonia Society is helping get the message across through a series of rags to riches workshops.
And summertime - regardless of the weather is undoubtedly "icecream time"!
