Update for Country Focus 1st February 2009
Village Alive.
The Monmouthshire community keeping it's village alive through it's historic buildings.
Country Focus - Sunday 1st February at 07.30am presented by Mel Doel.
The community of Llangattock Lingoed are on a mission - to restore and preserve historic buildings in their area that would otherwise be lost and left to decay. So far they have saved three buldings that were on the "at risk" register - a Cider house and two well houses. Mel Doel meets the enthusiastic members of the Village Trust who are determined to conserve these buildings for the economic benefit of the local rural economy, for people to enjoy and appreciate the countryside and it's unique heritage for generations to come.
And they're not just keeping it to themselves - similar buildings are being lost throughout Wales and across England so the they're running the first Village Alive Trust awards for Building and Conservation this year in June - entries required before the end of February!
