Update for Country Focus November 16th 2008
Live and eat Welsh for a week
Could you eat just Welsh food for a week - farmers challenge the Rural Affairs minister. We have one suggestion - Naked barley bread from north Wales.
Country Focus - Sunday 16th November at 07.30am presented by Mel Doel.
Four rural communities are to be studied in order to assess the needs of Wales' deep rural areas - It's hoped the research will lead to the areas becoming more connected to surrounding communities. We speak to Elin Jones,
the rural affairs minister who has also been challenged, by farmers to Eat Welsh for a week.... how easy is that going to be ?!
As the credit crunch bites pets could suffer. Animal charities report an increase in abandoned animals.
And bread, made from naked barley is back in the shops of Gwynedd for the first time in more than a century. Popty Cae Groes has been baking bread and cakes from its premises on the outskirts of Bethesda for more than a hundred years and has now launched it new artisan bread. And this is a local product with naked barley being grown in the area. Perhaps the minister might try it in her diet this week?
