Country Focus Update
Bovine TB, young farming and Bluetooth
On Sunday's programme we look at tests for bovine TB in cattle, how young entrants to farming are supported, and a new initiative to bring trips to a castle into the 21st Century.
Country Focus - Sunday 5 October at 07.30am presented by Mel Doel
A one-off test for bovine TB, of all cattle herds in Wales began this week as part of the Assembly Government's three-year programme to eradicate the disease in cattle but there are no details yet of when a badger cull might take place - our rural affairs correspondent Iolo ap Dafydd assesses the situation.
Earlier this year the Welsh Assembly Government launched a consultation exercise to look at how young entrants to farming could best be supported. As the deadline for that consultation approaches, reporter Debbie James visits one enterprising young farmer near Milford Haven.
Taking a trip to one of Wales fascinating Castles is always entertaining and good fun. But sometimes it can be a laborious task to read the notice boards depicting the monuments history. From now on though visitors to Raglan Castle in Monmouth could find it easier. CADW is piloting the use of bluetooth technology so that visitors can download extracts of audio stories on their mobile phones.
