Wales' first biofuel processing plant will open near Llanfihangel Glyn Myfyr this week thanks to the efforts of three local farmers. BML Biofuel was set up by Llyr Jones, Medwyn Roberts and Bryn Jones will be producing 1.3m litres of bio-fuel and over 2,500 tons of high protein pellets for the livestock industry every year.
The Greenmeadow Community Farm is celebrating its 25th anniversary this year. It's the only one of its kind in Wales and was bought for the people of Cwmbran in the 1980's when the then owners decided to sell up. Its now run by Torfaen council and attracts tens of thousands of visitors every year
On Sunday 8th June hundreds of Christians from over 25 churches in the north of Wales will travel "pilgrimage fashion" to Llandudno's Nodafon Farm - all with food in mind. Beginning with morning services at each individual church, the groundbreaking event, will not only be one for family and fun, but will focus on the Christian perspective on environmental concerns and the ethical sourcing of food, both locally and otherwise.
And don't forget to get voting for the Welsh farm that's one of just four UK finalists vying for the new Nature of Farming award led by the RSPB and BBC Countryfile magazine. Peter Davies' Slade Farm in Southerndown, in the Vale of Glamorgan includes a mixture of arable land, cattle and sheep farming and outdoor pigs, all managed in a way that encourages wildlife to thrive.
