CAULIFLOWERS, GRASS FIRES AND ANIMAL MAGIC.
Country Focus - Sunday 18th May at 7.30am, presented by Mel Doel.
Mountain and grass fires cause significant problems across Wales, with over 7,000 fires started deliberately each year. We look at the fire service's campaign to reduce the number of deliberately started fires and the effect they have on our natural environment.
On Sunday, 18 May 2008, a very important event will be held at the Pavilion, Pontrhydfendigaid, Ceredigion, that will provide an opportunity for anyone who runs a Village Shop or is thinking of running one - either as a private or a community venture - to get together with others who are in a similar position. Visit cefngwlad.org for further details.
It's the Year of the potato! And primary school children across Wales are keeping potato growers on their toes by planting crops of their own. Country Focus visits Fenton Community School, in Haverfordwest which is just one of 10,000 schools in the UK taking part in the British Potato Council's 'Grow Your Own' project.
Mel Doel takes a look at why Welsh cauliflowers are appearing on more of our dinner plates with the "Really Welsh" company.
And did you know Johnny Morris was Welsh? We take a walk down memory lane to remember this remarkable man. "Oh Yes, Dear!: Johnny Morris O.B.E. - His Final Years" by Angela Morris and John Keene is published by Paardeberg Books.
