Pilot Badger Cull.

Country Focus - Sunday 13th April at 7.30am, presented by Iolo ap Dafydd.

Badgers in Wales are to be killed in a pilot project to stamp out tuberculosis in cattle. Farmers have welcomed the controversial decision by the Welsh Assembly Government to approve a cull in an area with a high number of Bovine TB cases - the method and site have yet to be decided upon. Officials say the disease is out of control in Wales - last year, 7,905 cattle were put down with a compensation bill of 15.2 million pounds. Wales' chief vet Dr Christianne Glossop said " Doing nothing is not an option." But conservation groups insist a badger cull will not stop it spreading. Iolo ap Dafydd goes looking for the animal with the Badger Trust and assesses the implications of a cull.
