PONIES, FISHING AND A CHANCE TO WIN A BOOK OF POEMS

The future of the Carneddau ponies has been secured thanks to a new agreement which has been signed to allow them to continue grazing on the mountain . There have been ponies in this part of Snowdownia for at least 500 years now hopefully their future is secured thanks to an agreement with the local mountain pony society.

The waters of the Severn Estuary are among the most dangerous in the world. But for at least four hundred years, generations of Welsh fishermen have waded into it with their large "v" shaped nets to catch salmon. It's a tradition they're determined to preserve despite their season being dramatically shortened to just a few short weeks. The season which started in June continues until the end of August and the fishing times are on the Blackrock Lave net fishermen's association website.

And farmers in the Brecon area are getting rather more than they pay for when they call out their vet. Robin Baldwin has been so inspired by the countryside and environment in the Beacons he's started writing poems about his clients.
