Our industrial past has shaped much of Wales, particularly the south Wales valleys, but by now, in many areas there's little evidence the coal pits even existed.
If you visit the Afan Valley you might be convinced the industrial past never existed. Melanie Doel visits Afan Valley Country Park and sees how things have changed.
By now, it's a popular place for the local communities and visitors from abroad who are attracted not only by the walking, but by the world famous bike trails.
