All Things Considered: Dr Tony Campolo

Dr Tony Campolo

He is no scientist, but he did very briefly study under Albert Einstein. He is better known as the Baptist preacher who went to the help of Bill Clinton when his presidency seemed about to collapse in scandal.

On 'All Things Considered' this week (Sunday 14 June at 8.30am, repeated on Wednesday 17 June at 6.30pm), Roy Jenkins' guest is Dr Tony Campolo, preacher, professor of sociology, activist and frequently a highly controversial figure among American evangelicals.

He's one of several leading figures who now call themselves 'Red Letter Christians', redefining their emphasis in terms of the words of Jesus which some older Bibles printed in red.

He comments widely on social and political issues, has written 35 books, and founded an organisation for children at risk in cities across North America, and in several developing countries.
