Black sheep of the Cardiff indie scene, Mclusky displayed a contempt for their peers that bordered on the misanthropic. Not for the fainthearted.
Mclusky began as Best, when Newcastle-born journalism graduate and songwriter Andy Falkous met Llantrisant-born drummer Mat Harding while the pair were in working in a call centre in Cardiff. Their first bass player left for a career in Welsh language pantomime, but local boy Jon Chapple was recruited from his job collecting empties in an indie disco in Cardiff to cement the final line up in 1998.
