Abergavenny's Matthew Jay was on the cusp of success by the time of his tragically early death in 2003.
When he emerged in 2000, Matthew Jay was hailed by many as the new golden boy of British folk pop. At just 21 years old, he was compared to Nick Drake, Belle & Sebastian and Elliott Smith, and his debut single Please Don't Send Me Away was Mark and Lard's record of the week on Radio 1.
