Notes : 1) Can analyse the title sequence from different viewpoints - visual imagery used, sound, written language, shots, editing, expectations created in the audience. 2) Do a study on types of celebs chosen for a series like this - analyse their representation. 3) Ask pupils to do a 'treatment' on themselves ; pretend to be a 'celeb'. Choose genre, image, name, clothes and a suitable background. Take photos etc. Use this to create a magazine article . 4) Example here of intertextuality where news providers use the John Sergeant story to increase audience - use of term ' media storm'. Study the ways popular stories are exploited to produce hype. 5) Ask pupils to think of other examples of a media storm and create a front page for a popular newspaper on one of these stories. Include headlines, photos and a suitable article. 6) Plan a DVD on a more recent series of 'Strictly'. Have a look at Strictly Come Dancing. Create a marketing campaign to market the DVD. 7) Ask pupils for original ideas for formats for future celeb. reality TV series. Where is the genre going next? Does it have a future?
