Study of German artist, Heinz Koppel, who settled in Dowlais, Merthyr Tydfil in 1944. Interview with his widow Pip on his eccentricity, his seriousness and his approachability. Much visited by other young artists at the time according to his widow, as he was an established painter. Includes views of various paintings including ' Self Portrait' ,' Slick and Slim', 'Gwernllwyn Madonna' ' In the Backyard', 'Inner Circle' and 'Boys Club Corner'. Discussion of how the effects of his work on other artists in Wales were not to be seen for another decade. Presenter Kim Howells recounts how the Welsh art establishment found him difficult - his widow puts this down to a strong European element in his work at this time.
