Why is there green and white on the Welsh flag?
Why does the Welsh flag have a green and white background behind the deep red of the dragon? Eddie Butler explores various myths and legends - is it down to links to the Battle of Crecy in 1346 and the wearing of a green and white uniform by the Welsh longbowmen? Or do we go back further to the court of Llywelyn Fawr at Rhoslyr on Anglesey early in the 11th century? Poetry written in celebration of Llywelyn mention a soldier's uniform of green and white.
