Moz becomes Steve's new best friend and gets rather too close to the Lewis family when he has sex with Steve's under age daughter Hannah. Ruth discovers what has happened and hides the truth from Steve, fearful of how he may react. This lie is to haunt the Lewis family and be its undoing. Hannah, who has a huge crush on Moz, is devastated when he announces that he's to marry his long term girlfriend Tanya.

Ceri and Robbie make up their differences and get back together following a series of misunderstandings which have been aggravated by the meddling of Robbie's troubled brother Andy. Ceri finally faces real heartbreak when she realises that her mother, Margaret, has spiralled into depression without her family noticing. The series ends with Margaret going missing on the mountain and Ceri is distraught, knowing that something terrible has happened.
