About this interview
Me grandfather was in a wheat hoeing gang as a young man and they was all in a field talking together and there was a young couple come into the village un the gang formean, he was leading the way talking. "And, I've heard, I oodn't put up uv it - was he man or a mouse? I unt av at going on!" And they kept on. And grandfather wasn't say anything. And eventually he did. He said, "Well Ted, thy asn't had much to say for thyself, what does thee think?" And grandfather leant on his hoe and he said, "Well, it's like this - if er was my missus, I'd go into town and buy me the best pair of boots as I could find and then the first time er shouted, I should keep on walking til they was weared out!"
