Title: Shakespeare's Tempest goes to Ibiza

The BBC closely worked with the Shakespeare Schools Festival to run our biggest ever off-air drama event.

And, as part of the One Night of Shakespeare event, Whickham School, trod the boards in rehearsal for an unusual adaptation of The Tempest.

With music being an important element of the play, they have brought the production right up to date by adapting the stage to a club scene in Ibiza.

Claire Thirlwell
"I'll feel very proud of the work they've put in."

Director Claire Thirlwell says "I'm very excited for Sunday, I'm very excited to see them on stage - no matter what happens, I'll feel very proud of the work they've put in, but obviously there's a natural feeling as a director that I do want them to do well."

The pupils have adapted themselves too, working hard in rehearsals for evening after evening, and with limited sessions at the venue, The Whitley Bay Playhouse, they painstakingly mastered the intricacies of a Shakespeare classic.
