Sam Allardyce's reign at Newcastle United comes to an end after just 24 games.

So, after just eight months and 24 games, Sam Allardyce has parted company with Newcastle United "by mutual agreement", in the words of the club.

Allardyce said: "I'm disappointed but I wish them all the best for the future. It was a shock, I didn't expect it."
