The Great North Run isn't just about the elite athletes, it's about the fun runners too. Tens of thousands of people will be running at this fantastic event and many of them have a story to tell...

Great North Run - Sunday 01 October 2006

Are you taking part in the 2006 Great North Run? if so, BBC Tyne wants to hear from YOU!

Whether it's your first race or your umpteenth, we would love to hear your story of why you decided to tackle the biggest half marathon in the world.

We will be publishing a selection of your stories and pictures right here, on the BBC Tyne website.

How to submit your story

You can either email us or write to us:

Your submission needs to include:

Great North Runners dressed as Elvis

- Your personal story in up to 250 words.

- At least one photo of you/your group. (Photos of children under the age of 16 require parental permission.) We will only publish submissions with accompanying photos.

- Your contact details, including full name, postal address, phone number(s), email address (if applicable).

- Written parental permission from contributors under the age of 16.

- Please also include a stamped, self-addressed envelope for any photos you would like to have returned to you.
