Sixty Second Street

In April 2006, BBC 2 will screen "The lost world of Friese-Greene" presented by Dan Cruikshank. This new series will tell the story of a remarkable experimental colour film made in the 1920’s of a journey from Lands End to John O’Groats.

This dynamic collaboration between the BBC and the British Film Institute will show a unique film by Claude Friese-Greene shot in colour, bringing Britain to life in a vivid way.

In celebration of this iconic film, we are asking you to be your own film maker…

Films can be shot in unusual places

"Sixty Second Street" is your chance to make a one minute video of your street - the people, houses, plants, animals - whatever inspires you, and they will be linked across the country through the BBC's websites.

To give you a flavour of what is possible, some members of the public came together to think film, create film and shoot film.

Their two short videos were made in two very short hours by two very hard working teams who were taking part in a "New Directions Workshop" arranged by Northern Film and Media.

Each group had just three hours to decide what to film, produce a storyboard, shoot, edit and add voice-overs and captions. See what you think……….
