Live 8 Big Screen @ Gateshead International Stadium It's already been the most talked about gig in years and a small number of lucky people have now received their tickets and are getting ready for a massive day of live music this Saturday. For the rest of us, however, we must wallow in the disappointment of not getting a positive reply from all those darn texts we sent. While that bloke in the office whom you never really liked is off to see the likes of Coldplay, Elton John, Joss Stone, Pink Floyd and Paul McCartney, you will have to make do with inviting the neighbours around for pretzels and beer, and squinting at your TV screen to see if you can spot Snoop's dog. | | Joss Stone |
But all that is changing. Let's all stand, and turn to face the direction of Gateshead. Somewhere over there, in a large venue they call Gateshead International Stadium, is the chance to see Live 8 up close on the big screen. Now you don't have to share your pretzels with the neighbours, but instead, share the experience with 3000 other music lovers. Where, when and how Let Mick Henry, Leader of Gateshead Council, explain: "We are broadcasting the Hyde Park concert on big screens at Gateshead International Stadium for free and invite local people, young and old, to come along on Saturday 2 July and be part of this momentous occasion." Date: Saturday 2 July Doors open: 12 noon Duration: 1-10pm
