Mum 1:
Hey Narny, look what I've got here. I've got a book.
Look, there's two babies in it singing all together.
Mum 2:
You like chatting; you're almost there with singing.
That's probably the next step, isn't it?
Ah, we can see the tall buildings!
Look at that; they are very tall those buildings!
Mum 3:
Look at the train - where's he going?
Where's he going?
Mum 4:
Chuffa chuffa choo choo!
Here comes the train.
Mum 5:
Clickety clack, clickety clack.
Mum 2:
Going to… the farm!
We can smell the farmyard!
Mum 4:
Does it smell nice? No!
Mum 5:
Here comes the train.
It's going to the seaside.
And we can taste the ice cream.
Well, not yet, but you can one day!
Mum 4:
Look!
Mum 6:
Clickety clack on the track, going to…
The station for a nice long rest.
Night night, train. See you tomorrow.
It's never too early to start enjoying a book with your baby and it's also a great way of bonding right from day one.
Keep sharing the books with them and they will start to recognise the images and want to explore them with you.
As the parents in this film show, you don’t need to read all the words either. In fact, talking about the pictures they are looking at can be even more fun.
So cuddle up and find somewhere quiet to enjoy your Bookstart Baby pack together.
The content of your pack varies, but will include two board books, a rhyme sheet and a booklet of tips and ideas for sharing books with children from a very young age.

Image caption, It doesn't matter if your baby chews the book to start with... soon they will enjoy helping you turn the pages!
