John is four years old. He's got some learning/behavioural difficulty. He's non-verbal but he's started slowly on his speech. John can be the very most caring, lovable, doting little boy, but where he can't communicate, a meltdown could last four hours at a time, but we've done an emotion chill-out corner. So, when he's having a temper, we let him calm down, and then we talk about all the different emotions…Look at pictures, read books. He loves little sensory games. It helps him which has made it so much easier.
Meet Tanya and her son John, who has a language delay.
Tanya tells us how having a 'chill out corner' has helped when John becomes frustrated.
