Imaginative games

Your box could be all sorts of things…

  • A spaceship
  • A house
  • A car or boat

What's in the box?

Grab a box of your choice and fill it with different items like their favourite toys, a blanket, instruments or soft household objects.

As you play together, pull out the items and name each item as you take them out.

As you play with the items in the box, talk about what they look, feel and sound like.

Describe what the items are and can be used for.

Drumming games

You can also make sounds by tapping, knocking, or drumming the sides of the box. Can your baby make lots of noise and match your rhythm?

Peekaboo

You can play peekaboo by hiding you or your baby inside.

Build their anticipation before revealing yourself - you'll often find they make a noise or babble as they predict what comes next.
