These festive pastry rolls are the most delicious way to use up your Christmas Day leftovers. This recipe is from mum and weaning influencer Sian Stephanie, one half of @moonandrueblw to make a toddler-friendly festive feast.
Pastry bites packed with all the flavours of a Christmas dinner, these are bound to be a hit with the whole family and a great way to use up any uneaten food.
All you need is a bowl of leftovers and a ready-made roll of puff pastry.
If you want to make use of your Christmas leftovers these festive rolls are perfect for the whole family.
Just take your leftovers and chop and mash them all together.
Then roll out a sheet of ready made puff pastry, cut it in half lengthways, and then build your rolls!
Some bread sauce a little bit of gravy, then add your leftovers keeping everything to the top halves of your pastry.
Fold the bottom half carefully over the top keeping all the filling in place and then press a fork along the open edge to seal them.
It really is that easy!
Cut them to your desired size, you can brush them with a little bit of beaten egg before cooking for 15 minutes at 220°C/200°C fan.
Perfect little bitesize way to use up your Christmas leftovers.
Method
Preheat your oven to 220°C/200°C fan.
Chop, mash and mix your leftovers together.
Roll out your puff pastry and cut it in half lengthways.
Add a small layer of bread sauce and/or gravy along the top half of both strips of pastry, then layer on your leftovers mixture. You can even finish your filling with some small dollops of cranberry sauce.
Fold the bottom half of each pastry strip over the filling, before pressing down gently with a fork along the open edge to seal your rolls closed.
Cut each roll into your desired size and optionally brush the tops with some beaten egg.
Cook for 15 minutes until golden on top and then enjoy your yummy festive bites. A perfect lunchtime picky plate option for the whole family.
These can be stored wrapped in tin foil in the fridge for up to 3 days (if they last that long!).
