My mum lives in Kempston and whenever we come to the UK and stay with her we take a walk along the embankment. We love Bedford. Thanks for the photo to stir up old memories. We will be across in December for Christmas and will definitely be on the bridge!

I was born in Bedford in 1955 and moved to canada in the 70's. While visiting Bedford during the summer of 2002 I remember standing on the suspension bridge with my Canadian wife and our three young boys and recounting how, as a boy, I would jump off the bridge when the weather got too hot. As I recall this was illegal, and probably still is. Thanks for the memories.

Many is the time that I've crossed over and under this bridge. And last year (2002)I met the owner of the kayak that I made while at school, some many years ago. While touring Fort McLeod in Alberta I met a former student of the Bedford Modern School whose Father had bought him a kayak and when describing my old kayak, it became apparent that my Mother had sold to his Father my old kayak and here we were meeting by complete accident while awaiting a rendition of the Musical Ride. Small world. Great town to be from. Great panorama of the Ouse.

I've crossed this bridge many times in the past. The embankment in Bedford is still one of favorite places in the world. I spent two tours of duty at RAF Chicksands and lived near Cranfield. I visited Bedford a couple of years back and a lot of things have changed since the mid 60's but not the embankment.

I lived in Bedford in 1985 while working on a project in Bicester for Texas Instruments. Your webcam of the Bedford suspension bridge brings back great memories for my wife and I...

I was born and raised in Turvey, it's nice to see pic's of my local town... I agree w/ the others... makes me a little homesick!!

The pictures are great and make me so homesick. Please keep the pictures coming. Makes home a lot closer. My daughter and I were there just a week ago and we were surprised how green everything was compared to dry Colorado.

Richard Johnson, Connecticut USAThursday, 15-May-2003 22:07:56 GMT
I used to live in Bedford and these pictures make me very homesick. I think they're brilliant. Just seeing the enbankment has brightened up my day.
