Kingsbrook Business and Enterprise College, MK
'We’ve had ‘Fame Academy’; we’ve even had ‘Big Brother’ but this year the ‘X FACTOR’ has arrived at Kingsbrook! This year for 'BBC Children In Need' we are running an X-Factor Competition, similar to the ITV show. Students and even staff have auditioned in Round 1. Two students cried when they didn't get through. There are 4 categories, Staff, Groups, Years 10-13 and Years 7-9. Head Boy, Alex Holmes is organising Children In Need along with the support of Mrs. Judith Kaye (Head of Music department), also one of the judges. There are 4 dreaded judges. Over 300 people auditioned and we have just finished Round 2, where an invited audience paid 50p to decide who went through to Round 3 (Boot Camp).
We are now on Round 3 (Boot Camp) this week and unfortunately the contestants can't go to the judge's houses, in exotic places etc like on the real show, but they can go to their mentor's classroom instead! :) Every judge has to get their category down to only 5, with the help of their team, so that next week on Tuesday and Thursday lunchtime the rest of the school can pay £1 and vote off their least favourite. On Friday 18th we will be left with our final 12 contestants and at 7pm the X-FACTOR finale will take place. It's going to be a great night. And of course there are plenty of opportunities for Photos to be taken and stories to be written! :) I have also organised other events such as a Year 7,8,9 Disco; Non-school uniform day on Friday 18th in the theme of 'Be what you want to be' (when you were younger). The canteen (Thornton's) are also baking special treats! Year 9 Business and Enterprise groups have also initiated and run similar events such as a dance off competition and other fun events.
