    Stevenage Borough 2-0 Exeter City

Borough's win lifts them up to fifth, and saw them inflict a first defeat on the Devon side.

Second half goals from George Boyd and Danny Bulman brought an end to Conference leaders Exeter's eight-match unbeaten run.

First-half chances were few and far between and Stevenage striker Jon Nurse's effort from distance shortly before the interval was the closest anybody came to breaking the deadlock in a tense opening 45 minutes.

Organised defending restricted both teams to shooting from long range and Boyd curled an effort just wide as Stevenage pressed early in the second half.

Anthony Elding missed the target with a penalty after Exeter defender Chris Todd handled in the 66th minute but Boyd spared Elding's blushes with the opener from the edge of the area with 20 minutes left.

Bulman sealed the points two minutes from time with a sweet finish after being played in by Boyd.

Manager Graham Westley was delighted with Boyd's contribution.

"Boydy's positioning was first class in terms of getting on the ball all night long" he said.

"He's dangerous on the ball, he's making better decisions now, he's making earlier decisions. The goal just sent me into raptures and I'm sure everybody else in the ground. It's just brilliant to see a young player doing so well."
