    Championship

Watford and Luton remain third and fourth in the Championship but are now level on 17 points.

    HULL CITY 0-1 LUTON TOWN

Steve Howard's late strike helped Luton maintain their excellent early-season form with a narrow win at Hull. Euan Duncan reports from the KC Stadium.

This was a game that struggled into life and then ignited into an end to end contest, with disallowed goals, fabulous saves, near misses and a priceless winner for Luton six minutes from time - off the boot of striker Steve Howard.

The Hatters deserved their victory with Ahmet Brkovic's first half strike five minutes from the interval incorrectly disallowed for offside.

Hull keeper Myhill superbly tipped over long range efforts from Dean Morgan and Carlos Edwards before the break.

Luton dominated the second half. Howard struck a post with a low shot early on and Myhill denied Sol Davis and Morgan before Howard's decisive intervention.

Brkovic lifted a cross into the heart of the penalty area and Howard took it down before sending a rising half volley into the roof of the net.

Luton were grateful for two decent first half saves from keeper Marlon Beresford but were determined to avenge their 3-0 defeat here last season.

    WATFORD 2-3 SHEFFIELD UNITED

Leaders Sheffield United came from two goals down to beat 10-man Watford courtesy of a late own-goal off the knee of defender Clarke Carlisle. Simon Oxley reports.

Watford came back down to earth against the Championship leaders on an eventful afternoon at Vicarage Road. It always seems to be the case when these two meet, and the result apart, the Hornets will feel the effect for several games to come.

Leading scorer Marlon King limped off in the first half and centre half Malky Mackay laid out Rob Kozluk and was sent off midway through the second period. Adrian Boothroyd didn't say as much but he will expect better from the experienced Scot.

It came with the scores level at 2-2. King's replacement Darius Henderson had bagged two either side of half time to put the Hornets 2-0 up but the Blades hit back through Phil Jagielka and Phil Ifil.

United went on to claim all three points against the ten men when Clarke Carlisle netted an own goal. Carlisle could have joined Mackay for an early bath after a dreadful foul on Kozluk but was only yellow carded. That was the Hornets' consolation but maybe we all needed this reality check.

    League One

    MK DONS 0-0 BARNSLEY

Milton Keynes Dons are still without a win and are now bottom, but earned a point from a draw at home to Barnsley. Luke Ashmead reports.

It was a close game at the National Hockey Stadium where both sides could have taken three points but it remained goalless and on reflection it was probably a fair result.

The Dons could have taken the lead 23 minutes into the first half. Nickey Rizzo sent a ball to Izale McLeod in the area and McCleod's shot went inches over the bar.

McLeod had another chance just before the break with a left foot shot saved well by Colgan and Platt almost heading home the rebound.

Nicky Rizzo whizzed a right foot shot just over the bar a minute into the second half and Platt was inches wide with a header moments later.

But it wasn't just the Dons who had chances, Barnsley substitute Daniel Nardiello got the ball past Baker on 76 minutes but was adjudged to have fouled Craig Morgan in the process. Nardiello had another shot well saved by Baker and on 90 minutes, another Barnsley sub, Mark Richards, hit the bar with a good header.

Danny Wilson remains positive and is sure that the first League win is just around the corner. In the meantime the Dons are bottom with just six points.

    League Two

    WYCOMBE WANDERERS 1-0 BARNET

Wycombe are up to sixth and remain unbeaten after a 1-0 win over Barnet. Ian Stringer was at the Causeway Stadium.

Wycombe were quality here yet again, playing football ahead of their League and they could have done their goal difference no harm with the amount of chances they created but only one goal separated the two sides.

Top goalscorer in the entire Football League Nathan Tyson made it ten goals in as many games after an inspired through ball from Joe Burnell in the first half. In the form he's in, Tyson one on one is always going to score from eight yards.

Wanderers could have gone in at the break with a bigger lead had Tores got more power behind his ten yard effort but it was eventually tipped onto the post.

Barnet came back in the second half with Richard Graham Blazing over the bar when a goal seemed inevitable.

Goalkeeper Frank Talia did well against the Barnet onslaught in the final stages.

A final word should go to the player who made his full home debut. Argentinian Tores joined from Basingstoke Town looking for English football stardom. And playing with the passion, flair and quality he showed us on Saturday, we'll hear more of him this season.

    ALDERSHOT 2-2 STEVENAGE BOROUGH

Tim Sills capped a fine second-half fightback by Aldershot, netting the equaliser eight minutes from time in a 2-2 draw at home to Stevenage.

Shots, who contested the Conference play-offs last season, have endured a poor start to this campaign and there were few signs in the first half that theirluck would turn around.

Anthony Elding gave Stevenage the lead in the 29th minute, heading home from close range, and the visitors looked well on their way to victory when Justin Gregory doubled the advantage just before the break.

But it took only three minutes of the second period for Aldershot to get back into it, Ryan Williams producing a brilliant free-kick that flew into the top right corner of the net after Gregory had fouled Nick Crittenden.

Both goalkeepers made a series of good saves but Alan Julian was unable to deny Sills as he headed home a Chris McPhee cross to earn struggling Aldershot a point.

Aldershot: Bull, Mustafa (Sulaimani 45), Hamilton, Heald, Guyett, Williams, Watson, Somner, Boucaud (Nick Crittenden 45), Sills, McPhee.
Subs Not Used: Weait, Gearing, Scott.
