January 15 Winner - Nunthorpe Youth Club Under 16

After a great performance the weekend before when they won their first match of the season in the TJFA Challenge Cup, they won their first League game on Sunday gone when they beat Kirk Merrington by 3 goals to 1 . Kirk Merrington are flying high and had only lost one game out of seven previously so it was a real "underdog" performance by Nunthorpe who had gained only one League point previously.

To make it even more meritous, they were also a goal down to start with and must have been thinking "here we go again" but the lads showed tremendous character and playing some great football pulled the match back level and then went on to record a superb victory.

This is a "One Team Club" Ali and they could easily have thrown in the towel last season when they had an exodus of players and also lost a senior member of their Management team and …….. were also relegated to their current division.

But to their credit and especially the credit of the players who stayed and they have battled against the odds and are now worthy winners of this award.
