Boro sign new deal

BBC Radio Cleveland has been named as Middlesbrough Football Club's only radio partner.

What does the new deal mean?

The three-year deal means that BBC Radio Cleveland will be the only place to hear full-match commentary on every game the Boro play in the Premiership, FA Cup and Carling Cup.

This will start on Saturday 11th August when the new 2007-08 season kicks off.

We'll be increasing the number of our popular fans forums with everyone from Boro chairman Steve Gibson to manager Gareth Southgate taking part.

We'll also be bringing you the latest news from on and off-the-field at the club first.

And....

BBC Radio Cleveland will be changing its name to BBC Tees on the same day, to coincide with the start of the new season.

I don't mind you not being Ali and I'm delighted you're not BernieBUTFor the second match in succession you failed to tell your listeners which way the teams are kicking. It's no use at away matches saying 'kicking towards their fans'. Which end are the fans at an away match ?

Stan Jackson
Hi, what time will the online commentry at boroworld begin? wil it be an hour before kick off or when the whistle blows. It has been very haphazard in the past, sometimes 5 min into the game.

K Moriarty
Just wondering if the games will be broadcasted not only online but also around the world like Daniel Steer siad about Australia. Boro needs to be more recognised and respected in places like Australia as i live their myself

Ayresome Andy
Pelvis what are you talking about, if we hadnt played at the Vic we would have found somewhere else. Pools have no foresight still where they are 20years ago. Get over it and accept that they will never be the biggest club in Cleveland

PS
Great news to listen to a fair and unbiased view of the games.

Daniel Steer
Hello, Im a mad Middlesbrough supporter from Australia. Down here, we get a maximum of 4 boro games on TV and radio so I am very pleased to hear this great news. I am worried however that the games may only be broadcasted to UK people only. Are all the boro games on BBC Cleavland being broadcasted to Australia aswell. Could someone please get back to me as soon as possible. From Australia's biggest boro supporter

M Cummins
I have nothing at all against the BBC but its just the fact of not being able to listen to bernie and ali going crazy over a wrongly awarded decision, or going ballistic when we come back from 3-0 on agr to win 4-3 to get our place in the European final, they'll be missed.

Kenneth Coe
I am really looking forward to the football Commentary which BBC Radio Cleveland Will be providing in a professional way, it will also be great not having to listen to the Squawking voice of Bernie Slaven,

Alan
Booooooooo I want century to do the boro commentary not "BBC Tees"

neil
great...........more footy and no daft adverts!

Gary
This can only mean more obsession with football. Wake up there is more sport out there, what sport? who knows, most of it is never reported.

Commentary will never be the same RIP Aly & Slav. Can the Tees team show some passion when commentating pls and not go promtly off the air as soon as the final whistle blows, us fans like to give our reaction to the match as well.

Steve Pinnell
Will it still be possible to listen to live commentaries via the website as I am an ex-pat living abroad.

santa
will we be able 2 listen 2 the games online?

neil g
brill....no more silly adverts....make sure it is online so that i can hear it without having to tune into 5 live and hear about all hte rest of the premiership an not us! : - )

Barker
THe match wont be the same without Brownlee.Transfer him too.

Dave
Never listened to Radio Cleveland before but will make the change for this! No one can be worse than Bernie!!

Claire
great news. It's change, but change, this time, is good!

Terry
Fantastic news - as long as they don't transfer Slaven and his constant moaning and slagging off!!! Come on Boro!!!! And Radio Clevo!!!!

John Green
Will the loss of Century mean no web streaming or will the ex pats still be able to listen via your web site?

Stan Jackson
Does this mean that commentry will now be available on the internet as only cup games were available before?

Pelvis Gee
Great! No doubt this will mean even less coverage of the most successful team in the north-east during the last 7 years - Hartlepool United (count the trophies)Also, I bet there'll still be no mention of the fact that without Hartlepool United helping the Boro out in 1986 by letting them play at the Vic, there would be no Boro.
