Middlesbrough has landed its very own official Monopoly board after the Boro put the town on the map during the 2006 UEFA cup. Leeds, Sheffield, Cardiff and Belfast were all in the running to get their own game but games chiefs say it’s only because the town missed out on the Cups that they have passed go. ![]() The Riverside is a bargain! Graham Barnes revealed on BBC Radio Cleveland that landmarks of Middlesbrough that will definitely appear on the board will be; The Bottle of Notes, The University of Teesside, The Transporter Bridge, The statue of Captain Cook, The Theatre, The Mal and Middlesbrough College. Graham also confirmed that the two landmarks taking the places of Park Lane and Mayfair will be MIMA and The Riverside Stadium, but did not reveal which order they will appear. The playing pieces will be the traditional pieces with a few new pieces such as a Thimble, a Horse and a Bridge which may resemble the Transporter Bridge. The Monopoly Middlesbrough edition creator Mark Marriott says, “It’s vital the new board reflects the hearts and minds of Middlesbrough and the length and breadth of the town." The game will be in the shops from today, October 27, which incidentally coincides with Captain James Cook's Birthday.
