BlastYou are in: Tees > Blast > The ultimate Retro experience ![]() Living it up at Retro The ultimate Retro experienceBy BBC Blast reporter Claire Bloomfield Paul Taylor's been filling dancefloors for the past 28 years and has taken dance music to a whole new dimension. I caught up with him at Retro on 13th August. I arrived just after 9pm and was greeted by a queue that was already making it's way round the fountain at Tall Trees, Yarm, showing just how popular this monthly event is. ![]() Bringing them in by the thousands.... Feeling sorry for the poor girls in short skirts, baring as much flesh as possible, I make my way to the VIP door. I was soon introduced to Nick Thexton who, along with Les Barker, invited me to experience Paul Taylor’s exclusive mix from the DJ box. I was the envy of the crowd that was easily reaching 5,000 people, and from up here I could appreciate the passion of the surrounding fans, Paul's, not mine! The whole venue was buzzing, and the pure intensity of the heat was unbelievable, you could have been maxing the beats in streets of San Antonio, Ibiza. To match the tunes, the dress code is as flashy and as outrageous as you like! And as if Paul Taylor's schedule wasn't crammed full enough, he's continuing to return to host Retro on the second Saturday every month. Paul is continuing to produce music but provides a mix of the classic and latest club anthems for his punters. So many acts and celebrities today don't seem to have the time to speak and share experiences with their fans but with this DJ'ing hero its a whole different story. Paul chatted with his supporters throughout his gig and closed the event with a final message to his fans. ![]() In the DJ box with host Paul Taylor Retro is like a religion to the clubbers that return to Tall Trees every month, and I can certainly see why. last updated: 05/12/2008 at 14:17 Have Your SayBrad Nichola Tom Lumb |
