What personal information will we collect for Ten Pieces?

The BBC is the ‘data controller’ of this information. This means that the BBC decides what your personal information is used for, and the ways in which it is processed.

The BBC will collect and process the personal information that you provide to us including names, phone number, email address and information about your school (if applicable) through this contact form.

The legal basis on which the BBC processes your personal information is on the basis of legitimate interests in administering campaign entries and providing interesting and engaging content. Where we process your personal information for our legitimate interests, we will carefully consider any impact on you and will not use your personal information where such impact overrides our interests.

Your contact details will be collected by and stored through secure third-party platforms used by the BBC, in accordance with the BBC's Privacy and Cookies Policy.

What must you do before you upload any personal information?

If the content that you’re uploading contains any personal information relating to a child (for example, if a child appears in a photo or video), you must have obtained permission from the person with parental responsibility for the child before the content is uploaded.

We will ask you to confirm that you have obtained parental permission when you upload the content.

What will we do with your personal information?

We might publish your creation.

This means that it might be shown on the Ten Pieces website or on social media for everyone to see.

We have a legitimate interest to process your personal information; to interact with our audiences and create great content for our project.

We will only process your personal information where our interests are not overridden by your rights.

Who do we share your personal information with?

We use a third party CRM solution to store your personal information. They provide the services only under the instructions of the BBC and they will not use your personal information for their own purposes.

If you have chosen to opt in to any partner mailing lists as part of BBC Music Day's Get Singing campaign the BBC will send your data to these organisations who will hold it in accordance to their data protection policies. The data protection policies for the Get Singing Partners can be found on their individual websites. If you wish to opt out of these mailing lists this must be done directly with the organisations and not through the BBC.

How long will we keep your personal information?

Your data will be held by the BBC for the duration of the Ten Pieces Project.
